This next
phase of my genius hour required going out and doing some grocery shopping! I was
advised that it is very important to be prepared when I begin my baking
process. I wanted to ensure that I would avoid being trapped midway through the
process only to realize that I was missing a product (especially because I enjoy
baking at night!).
Something
which I realized when working on this component was that there are often many
options and brands for a single product. When making my purchases, I had to
factor in cost as well as quality. When doing research, I found that some lower
cost brands would still be sufficient in quality. For example, I was able to
choose from any brand of granulated sugar and flour. However, for chocolate chips
and sprinkles I found that it was important to spend a bit more money to ensure
that I wouldn’t jeopardize the quality of my cookie. The bulk of my products
came from Bulk Barn, Walmart and Michaels. I’m excited to get one step closer
to actually testing out the recipes!
